A restaurant starts off good (it was really good when I was there), and then they let the place run into the ground. Reducing the bill by 10% meant they took off the service charge.... which I don't believe they should be adding anyway because I doubt the staff actually get it. Seems this happens often. It was without doubt the worst meal experience I have had in Bangkok in 5 year. There where Cockroaches everywhere, when we pointed this out to the waiter, he laughed and asked us to move to the next table!!! The meal was soaking in Oil... It was the Guisto Italian food.. But I suspect that all the food is juts made off site and microwaved... never Never again will I eat at Siam Paragon in Orange... When I complained and asked for a manager, I was told there was no body avaliable?? and they would discount the bill by 10%?? typical Thai solution to a problem... We are in an economy of "always buy more". Products are designed to last a certain period of time, as short as possible. And maintenance teams is a huge cost to bear for these companies so everything is made to discourage the customer using it. It is usually made as a sales argument only. I found that European brands are usually more reliable on products quality and maintenance as European customer is historically more demanding, especially Germans I would say. I am not sure if there is any German brand doing printing machines though... This is no surprise. We are in an economy of “always buy more”. The boys in brown are just robbing bastards who see farang as easy targets, when my Thai became more proficient I was able to remenstrate with the Officer. Up to the point were I was able to point out the error of their ways. The best incident was when I was stopped on the express way near Don Muang, I was stopped for doing 70kph in a 70kph limit area. Unfortuantely my passenger was my wifes uncle who is a captain in the police force in the south. He had a few things to say to the lowly pleb that stopped us. It was great. I'll be back in may, i'm sure during the four weeks i'll be stopped at least once.
